Chapter 12

Elizabeth searched online for New Age stores and was drawn to one in particular— Selina’s Psychic Services and Collectables. She remembered how Albert told her to trust her intuition, and her gut said that this was the place to go; so she was going to trust it.

Walking into the store the smell of incense filled the air and Celtic music played. She looked over some of the merchandise first. Different stones and crystals were piled in sections. There were ones for grounding energy, others for uplifting the energy and activating certain sections of the Chakra System. It was like going to a foreign country. Things that she had never seen or heard of were on display. The store had a little bit of everything from Wiccan cauldrons to Native drums and smudging feathers. She walked along the very large library section glancing over the many subjects ranging from enhancing your psychic abilities and solitary Wiccan practices to mediumship and, finally, past lives. She looked for one of the names Albert had suggested.

“Is there anything I can do to assist you?” a friendly voice chimed.

Elizabeth turned around and saw a pretty, slender woman in her late thirties, who she took to be Selina, smiling at her.

“Well, I think so. I’m a little out of my depth here,” Elizabeth confessed. “I’m looking for some information about past lives.”

“Are you interested in a theoretical side of it or are you interested in finding your own past life?”

“Ummm. A little bit of both … I think.” She blushed.

“Well, Dr. John Wilson is quite excellent with both. He is an actual doctor of psychology and a hypnotherapist. I find his work to be quite remarkable, and he has a CD that does regressions.”

“Regressions over a CD?” Elizabeth asked, a little shocked.

“It’s like doing a guided mediation. He allows you to explore in your imagination for what is going on.”

“Imagination? Then it’s made up in our minds?” Elizabeth questioned.

“That’s a bit oversimplifying the process,” Selina said, smiling kindly. “It's more like shutting off that logical side of your mind and allowing yourself to explore what the subconscious has been trying to tell you. We are so logic-bound that we find it hard to let go of it, even for a little bit. We find comfort in knowing for sure that in this life one plus one will always equal two. But sometimes, just sometimes—one plus one will equal a sack of potatoes,” she laughed. “It’s in those instances we have to let go and accept that that equation is a reality as well. The CD helps you to let go and embrace, instead of questioning. Every life we live, we learn our soul lessons that help us achieve our purpose in life. Also, the people we are mixed within those lives help us too. Someone who is your husband in your one life could be your sister in the next.”

“You can be a different sex in each lifetime?”

“The soul is neither male nor female; it’s energy.
